Mahjong at Deena’s – Terms & Conditions

Welcome to Mahjong at Deena’s (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing our website, booking a class or event, purchasing services, or attending any Mahjong at Deena’s lesson, event, or social gathering, you agree to be bound by the following Terms and Conditions.
If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our website or services.
1. Nature of Services
Mahjong at Deena’s provides recreational mahjong instruction, facilitated play, social events, and related educational experiences.
We are a social and educational service only.
Not a Gambling Operation
No gambling, betting, or wagering of any kind is permitted at any Mahjong at Deena’s event or lesson.
No monetary exchange related to game outcomes is allowed.
Any violation may result in immediate removal without refund.
2. Mobile & Hosted Locations
Mahjong at Deena’s currently operates through:
Private homes
Restaurants, wineries, hotels, clubs, community spaces
Corporate or private event venues
We do not currently operate a permanent physical parlor. Locations may change.
Mahjong at Deena’s is not responsible for the policies, safety, cleanliness, or conditions of third-party venues.
3. Independent Contractors
Some instructors, assistants, and facilitators working with Mahjong at Deena’s are independent contractors, not employees.
Nothing in these Terms creates an employment, partnership, joint venture, or agency relationship between you and Mahjong at Deena’s or any contractor.
Mahjong at Deena’s is not responsible for the personal acts or omissions of independent contractors beyond what is required by law.
4. Reservations & Payment
All reservations are subject to availability.
Payment is required to secure your spot unless otherwise stated.
Prices, schedules, instructors, and offerings may change at any time.
We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.
5. Cancellation, No-Show & Refund Policy
For Social Clubs and Social Events
Cancellations made more than 24 hours before an event may be eligible for credit or refund at our discretion. Please contact Deena directly at mahjongatdeenas@gmail.com regarding discretionary refunds.
Cancellations within 24 hours of an event or are non-refundable and may be subject to a cancellation fee.
No-shows are non-refundable and may also incur a cancellation fee.
If Mahjong at Deena’s cancels an event, you will receive a refund or credit.
By booking, you agree to this policy.
For Classes
Cancellations must be made more than 72 hours before a class or class series to be eligible for a credit to reschedule at our discretion. Please contact Deena directly at mahjongatdeenas@gmail.com regarding discretionary refunds.
Cancellations less than 72 hours prior to a class will not be eligible for a refund or to reschedule.
No-shows are non-refundable and may also incur a cancellation fee.
If Mahjong at Deena’s cancels an event, you will receive a refund or credit.
Private Lesson Overage Fees
Private lessons that extend more than 30 minutes beyond the scheduled end time will be billed at $100 per additional hour, per instructor.
By booking, you agree to this policy.
6. Participation & Assumption of Risk
Participation in lessons and events is voluntary and at your own risk.
You understand that activities may involve sitting, standing, moving, lifting tiles or racks, and general social interaction.
You agree to assume all risks associated with participation.
7. Liability Waiver & Release
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to release, waive, and hold harmless Mahjong at Deena’s, its owner, instructors, independent contractors, volunteers, and affiliates from any and all claims, injuries, losses, damages, or liabilities arising from participation in services or attendance at events.
Mahjong at Deena’s is not responsible for:
Personal injury
Lost, stolen, or damaged property
Allergic reactions, food or beverage issues at third-party venues
8. Health & Safety
You agree not to attend events if you are ill, contagious, or experiencing symptoms that could pose a risk to others.
Mahjong at Deena’s reserves the right to deny participation to anyone for health or safety concerns.
9. Code of Conduct
Guests must:
Treat others with kindness and respect
Follow instructor and staff guidance
Refrain from disruptive, threatening, or inappropriate behavior
Follow venue rules
We reserve the right to remove any participant without refund for violations.
10. Alcohol & Substances
If alcohol is present at a venue:
You must be 21+ to consume alcohol.
Consume responsibly.
Mahjong at Deena’s is not responsible for incidents related to alcohol or substance use.
Mahjong at Deena’s hosts events at a variety of venues, including restaurants, breweries, bars, private facilities, and other establishments that may serve alcoholic beverages.
The event fee covers the Mahjong experience and any services or materials specifically described in the event listing. Alcoholic beverages are not included unless the event listing specifically states that a drink ticket or other beverage benefit is included.
Some venues may require an event ticket to include a drink ticket. When applicable, the drink ticket is intended solely for redemption at the hosting venue and is subject to the venue’s policies, eligible beverages, and applicable laws. The hosting venue is responsible for the sale, redemption, service, and distribution of alcoholic beverages.
At venues where no drink ticket is included, guests may purchase alcoholic beverages directly from the venue at their own expense. Mahjong at Deena’s does not independently sell, serve, or distribute alcoholic beverages.
The hosting venue is solely responsible for its alcohol service, including checking identification and age, determining whether a guest may be served, refusing service when appropriate, complying with applicable alcoholic beverage laws, and maintaining responsible beverage service.
Guests are responsible for their own alcohol consumption and behavior. Guests must comply with all venue rules and applicable laws and must be at least 21 years old to purchase or consume alcoholic beverages.
Guests who consume alcohol are responsible for arranging appropriate transportation and should never drive while impaired.
Mahjong at Deena’s is not responsible for the actions, decisions, alcohol service, or conduct of the hosting venue or its employees. Guests acknowledge that the hosting venue is an independent business and that Mahjong at Deena’s does not control the venue’s alcohol service or operations.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to waive or release any liability that cannot legally be waived under applicable California law.
11. Photography & Media Release
By attending any Mahjong at Deena’s event, you grant permission for photos and video to be taken and used for marketing, social media, and promotional purposes.
If you do not wish to be photographed, please notify us in writing before the event.
12. Intellectual Property
All website content, logos, class materials, handouts, designs, and original content are owned by Mahjong at Deena’s and may not be copied, reproduced, distributed, or resold without written permission.
13. Chargebacks & Payment Disputes
You agree not to file chargebacks or payment disputes without first contacting Mahjong at Deena’s to attempt resolution.
Unauthorized chargebacks may result in permanent refusal of future services.
14. Force Majeure (Uncontrollable Events)
Mahjong at Deena’s is not liable for cancellations or interruptions due to events beyond our control, including but not limited to weather, natural disasters, power outages, government restrictions, or venue closures.
In such cases, we may offer credit or reschedule.
15. Website Use
You agree not to:
Use the site for unlawful purposes
Attempt to gain unauthorized access
Interfere with site functionality
We may suspend or terminate access at our discretion.
16. Third-Party Links
Our website may include links to third-party sites. We are not responsible for their content, policies, or practices.
17. Privacy
Your use of our website is also governed by our Privacy Policy.
18. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
19. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of California.
20. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of services constitutes acceptance of any changes.
